Miss Greening has unfortunately fallen short in all of her cabinet positions. She is a good example of someone who was promoted beyond their level of natural ability. She should have stayed as a hard-working (if unremarkable) constituency MP. With her parliamentary career now past its peak and her seat looking increasingly vulnerable, a move to City Hall is clearly an attractive option. Unfortunately for her, in a city full of foreigners, young people and generation rent I am not sure there is a single Conservative in the land who could win the vote against the chosen Labour candidate (presumably Mr Khan). She would be foolish to give up her seat, but I suspect she will face an almighty battle in 2022 to hold on to it (two years after she fails to become Mayor of London). |
