| The borough council's June edition of Brightside featured, on page 23, news about our local parks. It reported that the council has negotiated a new contract for the maintenance of the borough's parks. Quadron Services has taken over this vital responsibility. Brightside says "The eight-year contract will save council tax payers £850,000 with a commitment to continue to ensure the parks are amongst the best in the capital". So, who are Quadron Services? The Putney Society's Open Spaces Panel has arranged for Andrew Kauffman, the Corporate Development Manager for Quadron Services, to come to St Mary's Church, Putney Bridge at 7.30pm, tomorrow evening, Thursday 27 June, to tell us all about his company and the job they will be doing in our open spaces. He will explain the national context for his company's work, describe the details of the Wandsworth contract and review the challenges of the task in Putney's open spaces. What will this all mean for Wandsworth Park, Leaders Gardens, Putney Park Lane, The Pleasance, Watermans Green and all the other local open spaces which are such an important element in our environment? You are invited to come to the meeting. The Putney Pantry will be open before the meeting for refreshments. |
