There seem to be a number of individually unrelated factors that seem to be affecting the E3. Aside from the Southfield Road issue, there are a lot of other road works around Acton Lane and Acton High Street.
Additionally, yesterday afternoon someone was knocked off their bike by a car door in CHR, with the road cordoned off by the police traffic diverted into South Parade and gridlocked there.
This is an additional factor in RTA's now, the Police have to photograph the scene and record all aspects in case of any liability claims. What used to be an accident but people carried on by, is now a potential Crime Scene area with the road closed for evidence recovery, removal of any vehicles and debris so it all means one incident blocks that route for about 4 hours. Factor in road works and how any bus driver can get from start to finish of each journey without some incident is rare. They can't simply scoot down a few rat runs and get past the obstruction as can car drivers.
You can contact First Bus and see if they can clarify further.
