| They were the ones that grew on the ground by the flats, before the bridge that leads to the Thames. It wasn't the council. They have no control over trees there. The trees on the Common belong to the Conservators who have responsibility for the care, planting and management of all of Wimbledon and Putney Commons. The keepers have spent several hours yesterday and this morning clearing all the poor things away. It's just pointless vandalism as you say. |
