This high profile case has me in two minds. My knee-jerk reaction is: Yes he should face U.S. law at it's most punative because I'm sick of people hacking, snooping, cloning. phishing etc just because they're computer literate enough to do so (I've had 2 cards cloned in 18 months and I'd like to see somebody made a real example of). On the other hand, whilst we in the U.K are too lenient with punishments handed out (IMO), the U.S seem to go OTT with jail time and the impending 60 years for Gary McKinnon seems harsh at best. I understand he has Asperger's but the Home Secretary doesn't feel that's a defence. Is Alan Johnson right? |
