I understand that it's only about half a mile or 1km of Oxford Street that has been pedestrianised - not all of it. It will be good to see a map showing the shops involved although this is expected to be just a work in progress as I understand there are anticipated alterations to traffic on the surrounding streets.
Didn't most people always go to/get off at the same shops when they went by bus/taxi to Oxford Street?!
It can be horribly crowded there and on a visit to Liverpool recently it was wonderful to be able to walk along a pedestrianised street without worrying about falling off the kerb into the traffic because of crowding.
