Correct, Sue, I nearly posted it :-) Although it's not AI that scares me, it's people who are likely to misuse it, or who refuse to regulate it because they don't understand it. I like the Marcus du Sautoy, Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science at the University of Oxford, quote about the use of AI in mathematics: AI for me is like the telescope was for Galileo. Although, it's true, some mathematicians are concerned about redundancy because of the power of AI at producing mathematical proofs. Of course, if AI isn't controlled, it probably has the same power to destroy the human race in a similar as uncontrolled nuclear weapons:-( We have to let US citizens sort out President Trump - at the Met Opera relay this evening a tribute was paid to Ukraine and they samg the Urainian national anthem before Verdi's Macbeth - so perhaps have faith in US voters to correct their mistakes? And as for bond markets, etc - markets all go up and down - and bankers or brokers aren't always rational; remember the dot com boom and crash? But we're all (or nearly all) using the Internet now ... |
