These kind of lists appear regularly in the news and probably should be ignored. They are published by the supermarket's PR teams and really are just to get engagement on social media.
A friend works in the property team at a big retailer and he says it is ridiculous to think that they would find new locations by advertising it in a newspaper article. They have ample information on potentially available sites and will have carefully been preparing the ground for any new opening. If this list was a genuine plan for expansion it would be counterproductive as other store's property teams would look to bid up the same sites.
