Don't forget that many women eg teachers were once not allowed to work once they married.  Times and customs and rules change. 

The working tax paying youngsters of today are paying for your benefits. Just as you will have paid in taxes for the benefits of those before you (were there any)?    NI money goes into a central pot.  The money is not ring-fenced although it should be noted in your NI records.  Nowadays the youngsters can see online any payments they have missed eg when they were at university so can more easily fill in any gaps. 

AI is changing and reducing the number of jobs available in certain areas.  That is a growing problem when we don't have enough people trained to fill vacancies we have.  Have you met your NHS AI Manager yet?
