Olga Khokhove by Picasso (Picasso's first wife.) When people make jokes about Picasso's paintings it's interesting to look at some of his early and later personal paintings of family members and his skilled drafting of people. Even later on, when he's doing what might be considered mathematical projections from 3D to 2D (it's interesting to compare his Cubist representations with the distortions sometimes introduced into maps from a 3D globe) his draftsmanship is excellent. (And his more casual drawings also bring out his drafting skills as well …) From the 2020 exhibition "Picasso and Paper" at the Roysl Academy. |
