Having spend decades in opposition Labour were not prepared for office either. Some people actually turned the lack of Labour policies before the election into a faith. They hoped that policies would follow. The Trump administration by contrast, love them or hate them, hit the ground running whilst Labour were announcing review after review. One of the reasons Labour are in trouble besides the low level corruption: political appointments, undeclared gifts etc was they behaved as if they were still in opposition with a silly black hole stunt policy that they protected for months by talking the economy down. I should add every time we change governments we get poorer. Those of us not yet retired will be lucky if there is still a state pension and the retirement age is not 100! There may still be time for a party to emerge before the next election but it doesn't look like it.
