Hopefully many will actually manage to reduce the amount of food waste that you make when you see how much you are making - and be able to see if you can make any adjustments to waste less - and save more. There has been a lot of research done over the years and the www.lovefoodhatewaste.com is well worth a look as it has lots of helpful information. Hopefully there will be fewer youngsters going off to uni who can't make mashed potato or measure how much dried spaghetti to cook than there were about 10 years ago! It's staggering the amount of food that we waste here in Britain. It's reckoned that 60% of the food we buy is wasted at home; 8 meals could be saved each week if we didn't bin good food at home; and millions of tonnes of CO2 could be saved. Making the compostable bags easily available makes it much easier to recycle any food waste AND also reduces the smelly and dripping attraction of the whole of your black sack to vermin. It's a Win Win! |
