my initial reaction to this proposal was that the very wide pavements in the URR would be better, but having looked at the plans I think the location is a good idea as large vehicles parked outside PAS prevent drivers coming from the URR seeing people waiting at the crossing - this crossing has been an accident waiting to happen! I have so often seen vehicles brake hard to stop in time or more usually drive across the crossing with pedestrians having to jump (literally) out of the way.
My one concern is cyclists ignoring the one way system in Disraeli Rd, imho it's already a problem as I have witnessed many near misses. Boris cyclists returning their bikes will also ignore the one way system, it's just a matter of time before there is a collision... |
