Dick Tracey, our Assembly Member and conduit with TfL with whom I have been liaising closely over the past weeks, has come up with what I believe to be an excellent solution to the question of the closed bus stops. The initial closure action was taken because the Harras fencing all the way along that part of the Upper Richmond Road eastbound has brought the road width down to about 10'' wider than an bus preventing anything from passing. It was initially thought that it would add to delays and congestion should the two stops have remained operational. However TfL now consider that given the distances that passengers would otherwise have to walk a delay of, say, 30 seconds at a bus stop would not be that unacceptable, especially at weekends. The stops have therefore been reopened, at least for the weekend. The situation will be reviewed in the morning rush hour. If the additional delays are excessive the stops will again be closed, albeit for week-days only and possibly just for the rush hour. I shall keep you advised if I hear more.
