| OK, I have 68 old Christmas cards from the 1930s 31 birthday cards, of which 28 are postcards of the late 20s and early to mid 30s. They are mostly pictorial and sentimental (dogs, cats, flowers with a verse, e.g. "If fortune with a smiling face strews roses on your way, when shall we stoop to pick them up? To-day, My Dear, to-day"!!) From UK and Ireland, seaside and various cities pictorial - mostly coloured - cards from 1905 (36 of these plus a pull-out series of pictures from Bognor, a letter card of Leigh-on-Sea showing 5 views and written in 1929, and a letter card from Westcliff-on-Sea, showing 5 views and written in 1925). Then there is a postcard of Sardar Khan's Mosque, Lahore, 1 each from Luzern, Gibraltar, Juan-les-Pins, Rottweil a. Neckar, Oberammergau (late 20's to 30's) and two postcard books from Marseille with one missing from each book. One consists of 17 general views, coloured, and was addressed in May 1928; the other comprises 19 b&w pictures of the Exposition Coloniale of 1922. Then I have some miscellaneous ones: 8 novelty cards, e.g. advert for Price's Regina shaving stick, a card showing Hitler's moustache and Mussolini's nose, a human baby emerging from an egg and five dogs howling with the caption 'The Beggars Opera'. Lastly, some pictures of people: soldiers in uniform (3 of these), a group of Salesian Old Boys, Arthur Sinclair, 4 bathing belles, Prince Arthur of Connaught in 1909, and an exotic-looking woman. Phew! I hope you want some or all of them!! |
