Tried to comment but couldn't get there, will try again. I quote from the Putney Conservative's email bulletin late May where they quote from the Queen's speech: "Confirmed that the Department of Culture, Media & Sport are transferring management of the Royal Parks to the Mayor of London, a spokesman for the Mayor's office has confirmed that no parking fees would be introduced while Boris Johnson is in office. The spokesman said 'at present the Mayor has no jurisdiction over Richmond Park but his view is that the Park is a fantastic historical resource and must be accessible for all Londoners. He would not introduce parking charges during his Mayorality and would only support such a measure thereafter if it had the backing of Londoners' A DCMS spokesman said 'the Government is committed to transferring management of the Royal Parks, including Richmond & Bushey, to the Mayor's office and the Mayor's position on the issue of charging is, or course, a matter of public record' Seems crazy that Richmond Council would go to the huge expense of installing bollards, parking meters, employing attendants etc. for their decisions to be reversed. Justine Greening and Wandsworth Councillors - please help and advise. |
