The ones that shut down and go into the boot, are ok if they are being used for short journeys, etc e.g. going around the supermarket, or using it to go on walks with other members of the family - not too far though. They are not very good getting up kerbs etc. Also - (very delicate question) is your mum a small or larger lady, because they are not really suitable for the larger frame for obvious reasons.They are a quite light weight and make topple over if used by a person with a large frame Only know all this because I found it all out by asking many questions when we were looking for one for my Dad a few years ago.
