To the contrary Richard! I didn't want ANYONE; walker, cyclist, motorist or equestrian to be charged extra for something we are paying for already (the RPA) through central government; it amounts to an additional tax. The urbanisation of Richmond Park has gone far enough and will not be enhanced by tarmac and ticket machines, in my opinion. I guess you think the opposite. However, we face a fait accompli and now that Margaret Hodge has confirmed that funds raised will be used to build and maintain cycle paths, do you really think it unfair or unreasonable to suggest that cyclists be asked (not compelled) to contribute toward these previously unannounced proposals for their benefit or should cyclists be effectively subsidised by other visitors who will be charged to visit the park? Perhaps this is the thin end of the wedge and in future years, Richmond Park will become more of a theme park and all will be compelled to pay. |
