Had a great conversation at the Big Data Expo with a guy originally from Indonesia and who had worked in IT in US, HK, etc before ending up in London, which we agreed was a great, although expensive, city. A very enterprise individual, writing cheap software for small businesses using AI, and interested in the idea of using AI to document legacy software so it can be more easily modified or replaced. (Had to disappoint him that now I'm basically retired I'd rather travel than set up a new business venture ...) He's the sort of immigrant we need to be innovative and boost out high tech economy. He was disappointed that the new visa scheme discourages or inhibits people like him with great skills from coming to the UK to contribute to its business development and economy. ON ANOTHER POINT - until this site fixes the replies to threads using the GUI interface I'm only posting new items like this one and Random Pics. Using the old text interface is to laborious and time consuming on a phone; as is reading verbose rants from Mr Hawkes. So I won't be replying to anything until the upgraded GUI interface is fixed! |
