A matter of preference, Mr Hawkes? I was treating them as two separate but linked phrases, hence a semi-colon but I suppose the second phrases explains the first so could justify a colon. However, I tend to reserve a colon for preceding a list with each list item separated by a semi-colon with a full stop after the last item. Probably goes back to the house style of a company I worked for several decades ago. I wonder if anyone else cares? :-) |
