Totally agree. If the recent heat and extreme weather have taught us anything, it's that we need more real, living trees on our streets. Mature trees provide shade, cool the local environment, improve air quality, and support wildlife. An artificial "oxygen tree" can't deliver those benefits.
The so-called oxygen tree on Putney High Street has been redundant for years and has become an eyesore. It should be removed, and the space used for genuine tree planting that will provide lasting environmental value for the community.
My hope is that this can be considered as part of the current hotel development works on the corner of Putney High Street and Putney Bridge Road, creating an opportunity to improve the public realm with real trees rather than leaving a redundant structure in place. |
