I guess the inability to deport him is an unintended consequence of previous legislation? I suppose the one-off change in pub licencing doesn't leave time for anyone to challenge with a high court injunction and won't have any lasting effect, whereas a quick change in deportation legislation needs careful wording to avoid successful challenges and other unintended consequences? It does seem odd we can't deport someone who's abused women and is no longer a UK citizen but we can block the return of women who were born UK citizens from refugee camps who may have been groomed by terrorists? It seems a legal contradiction? |
