| Mr Brigo Right ! Could be that rubber dinghy sailing in freezing weather is less appealing. Or perhaps the Government has twigged that illegal immigration is the electorate's major issue and is addressing it in their interest. That is before the electorate realised how negatively the Budget will impact their spending power and standard of living. Thankfully Shabana Mahmood has set out the biggest changes to migration rules in decades - saying people must "earn" their right to permanent settlement and making the asylum rules tighter. Also she is clamping down on illegal immigrants being housed in hotels while the claims for residency are processed and is looking to place them in disused military establishments instead. I note that 693,000 people emigrated. I wonder if they were of immigrant stock or indigenous Brits totally fed up with how the country is turning out under Labour and are looking to live in somewhere with a better future. |
