| If Trump had actually made the speech shown on two occasions by the BBC, he would have been prosecuted by the federal authorities for having incited armed insurrection at the Capitol. In other words, ‘Panorama’ and ‘Newsnight’ libelled Trump by suggesting in their doctored footage that he had committed a criminal offence. Therefore the programmes cannot be described as truthful but marred by a technical error. They were based on deliberate deceit, aimed at supplying evidence of criminality which Trump’s Democratic opponents had sought during Biden’s presidency but couldn’t find. |
