If the park has charges, then the surrounding roads will be full of parked cars (like during lockdown). Roehampton gate was lethal with cars parked on both sides of the road and others trying to drive / u-turn along with people walking and cycling, electric scootering, buggy pushing etc etc. Battersea Park has parking charges, Wimbledon Common is voluntary. It seems odd to charge for parking whilst also allowing vehicles to go through the park as part of their commute (from Kingston to Richmond Gate, and Richmond Gate to Roehampton Gate). If parking charges do get introduced then I'd like to see that money spent on policing of litter louts. Direct imprisonment, do not pass go, do not collect £200! |
