The WPCC levy is also due to sharply increase as soon as they are able to do so, by varying the legislation under which it is collected. Under CEO Simon Lee the costs of running the commons has ballooned and the 'steady state' overhead is some 50% more than the levy income. While the commons levy is a small part of the rates bill, and only affect those within the catchment, the WPCC's proposed rise will be significant. What the WPCC won't tell levy payers is that when the rise is pushed through, the additional income won't be spent on the commons, it will be used to plug the pensions deficit of £2.7m. |
