Don't snigger, David, it's actually a piece of music, recorded by the BBC in its Jazz 625 series in 1964, and it's a broadcast by Tubby Hayes Big Band: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEfwPS73I5E It's a lovely tune, and features excellent solos by Hayes himself on flute and Terry Shannon on piano, who also plays the very attractive intro - and I also love the crisp way that Allan Ganley kicks off from it. There's also a local connection, too: Terry Shannon's sister Maggie lived for many years in Genoa Avenue, and her two girls were friends with our two at All Saints' School in the 1980s. |
