By chance, I witnessed a prelude to the royals' accident on URR. I was driving east at the URR/PHS junction and about to move ahead on a green light. Suddenly a policeman on a motorbike. heading west, stopped in the middle of the intersection and gave us all a "stop" sign with his gloved hand. He was quickly followed by two more police motorbikes, then a limousine, and then two more motorbikes. All were driving at I think was at least 35-40 mph. I fail to see why, if there must be such an arrangement to control traffic when royals are on the move,  such high speeds are necessary. I am not surprised that an 83-year-old pedestrian found herself in the police's path.
