Not sure where this is going, was it intended as a joke? If so, I'm not sure it was really funny. Looking at the thread there seems to be a lot about referring and quoting from articles, etc. With Brexit it seems to me the argument is going to be partly personal opinion and mainly argument or assessment based on facts which may include reasoning by others to build up those facts. Obviously opinions are mainly going to be one's own but in the case of facts, assessments and reasoning it may be necessary to build on other's reasoning and references - no point in reinventing the wheel. And I was always taught I should substantiate and recognise my sources with references and quotes - so I would expect to put links to any sources - we don't want to be accused of plagiarism, do we? If I'm borrowing someone else's reasoning if I've time I might summarise it but if I'm in a hurry (the train is arriving at my station) I'll just put a link in. Based on that, I don't see Richard's doing anything wrong. |
