Alison, You’re exactly right - it is the bars that cause the problems and a bar is sadly what this proposal is. They take bookings for up to 199 people so think stag dos, hen parties, office parties, etc. This is not a nice family restaurant where people go to eat. My neighbours and I have had to live with all sorts of unsavoury behaviour when people come out of the existing bars (fights, sickness, various sexual activities, drug taking) so having more large drunken crowds out on the streets at night is not something we look forward to. As for controlling the development once it’s there, well we already have controls in place in the form of the restrictions on the building put in place when it was originally built. If you’re happy to ignore those, why would anyone take notice of any new ones imposed? |
