Now that a spell of cold weather is upon us there is even more urgency to be thinking of the plight of rough sleepers. The shelter provided by the Glass Door Charity on a Monday night at St Mary's Church will be operating until Easter.
They can take up to 50 people at a time, both men and women, and this year have seen a large number of women. They provide a hot meal, somewhere to wash and spend the night, breakfast and a fortnightly health check. They are now welcoming donations of warm clothes, hats, scarves and toiletries which should be taken to the Church on a Monday. |
